BVI SDA School Celebrates Success

09 Nov 2018 | NCC Staff/Ysanna John

The British Virgin Islands Seventh-day-Adventist School continues to celebrate excellence. On October 25, 2018, students who excelled during the 2017-2018 school year were rewarded for their accomplishments. Over one hundred and eighty students, from The Primary and Secondary Divisions, were awarded in different categories. In addition to awards for being on the Principal’s and Honor’s List, students were also awarded for Christian deportment, uniform, leadership and initiative, thought(text) for the week, punctuality, cooperation and helpfulness.

The students at the school realize that they are “surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses, therefore strive with perseverance in the race before them”.( Heb.12:1 paraphrased) They continue to strive for excellence as sixty-four students copped the Principal’s List, amassing GPA’s ranging from 8.0-9.0, and eighty students, with GPA’s of 6.0-8.99 were awarded for Honors.

The ceremony, which was witnessed by about four hundred parents, guardians and well-wishers, rivalled the regular graduation ceremony. The long-anticipated affair was slated for last September, but the passage of the two recent storms thwarted these plans.

The unprecedented launch of the book, NCC Champions Write, a publication of The North Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, was one of the highlights of the ceremony. The students were elated to finally received their medal of achievement and to finally see their name in print as published authors. The pieces in the book were composed by the students of the SDA schools around the North Caribbean Conference and edited by Mrs. Gerene Joseph, Education Director of the NCC. Autographed copies of the book were made available at the close of the ceremony by patrons. Copies of the publication are available for sale at the school.

The BVI SDA School continues to persevere for excellence, as it endeavours to recreate God’s image in the members of its community. Let us continue to support Christian Education in these islands with our prayers and means, as we celebrate Seventh-day Adventist Christian Education.
